I've added a list of "Green" Sites at the
bottom of the site. If you have one, let us know.

Hi,
I have a cordless electric lawn mower, electric lawn mowers have been available for along time
however cordless electric mowers are only a few years old or at least up
here in Canada they are, there great, no fumes, no cords to tangle, and
best of all you don't breathe in any fumes when your mowing. With the
increase in cancers everywhere we should make every effort to breath
in clean air as much as possible.

Judith and I are both
Southern girls with generations of Southern women before
us...One of my best green "finds" was to take another look at
all the wonderful things that I have inherited over the years:
beautiful handkerchiefs and hand towels, placemats and cotton
napkins, picture frames, odd silver pieces...you name it! We all
have boxes in our basements and attics full of those types of
things which can and SHOULD be used. Not only will you be green,
you will be honoring and remembering those dear people who came
before you and using the things they used, day after day, year
after year. If your grandparents or great grandparents are
around, ask them how they lived when they were younger. You can
bet it was a lot simpler and a lot "greener!"

Please, watch this short
film and think about joining me, and giving some serious thought
time and effort to our future, our children's' future, AND to
our beautiful Garden of Eden....GOD GAVE US PARADISE, LET'S KEEP
IT THAT WAY....Thank you",

Dear Friends,
My sister and her husband
have launched a new venture called "Geenraising" - a fundraising
company selling eco-friendly and fair trade products. Schools
and non-profits can partner with Greenraising to raise funds for
their programs.
Rather than fill the world up with more wrapping
paper and magazines, now organizations can help people live a
little 'greeener.'
Please check out
http://www.greenraising.com/ and recommend it to
your favorite school or charity if you like the idea.
Best
regards, Paul (8/13/07)
Use real plates and real napkins. Use baking
soda and vinegar for many many cleaning jobs, even for weed and
pest control. Baking soda shines up a stove and chrome!!! with
no chemicals or fumes. I do recycle paper grocery sacks and yet
I get a 30 cent discount off every bag. Making a cloth bag that
is washable would be the best though. I use a juicer and put the
pulp in my garden. I have a friend that sells bugs for organic
pest control. I am a Colon Therapist in Tucson, AZ using the
gravity method with coffee (massagemomma@hotmail.com). Using
food stuffs for facials, go back and ask your granny what she
used to do...Ann (7/5/07)
-P.S.--Another thing, although a little
time consuming this is. After a bath, I would bucket out the water to
re-use in my garden as not to waste it. I guess you could put
buckets in the shower!!!
Bring your own bags to the grocery store to save on plastic. Keep the bags in your car, so you don't have to worry about remembering to bring them. And many grocery stores give you a discount on your groceries for brining your own bag!...Brittany (7/4/07)
I have decided to save on trees + toilet paper. I now use OLD bath towels to wipe my self after number one. I still use toilet paper for number two. I believe this saves a lot of trees just to use cloth. NOW the rest of my family has followed me. SO far I have saved also in land fill, and moneys...Susan (7/4/07)
To keep hydrated and keep the balance in my body (wine and food are my passion), I drink Core Vital's Earth Greens - an all natural powder mixed with water that keeps you healthy. That way, you get your "greens", take in plenty of water and end up losing a few pounds....Laurie (7/4/07)
Try to use real (cloth) handkerchiefs rather than tissues. In America we cut down more than a billion trees a year to simply manufacture 1 years supply of Kleenex...Sharon (6/27/07)
Switching from incandescent to fluorescent light bulbs is a great way to do your part for the Earth. They use 75-80% less energy than regular bulbs, and greatly reduce greenhouse gasses that contribute to global warming/climate change. Also--we have a little one wearing diapers and rather than purchasing little bags to dispose of stinky diapers we use the plastic sleeve our daily newspaper comes in to shield the smell from the rest of the garbage. It's the best use we have found for recycling them--although we are considering eliminating our newspaper subscription altogether and reading online. ...Shawn L. (6/24/07)
Give up the bottled water you buy in stores. If you drink lots of water, get a filter at home. Then buy a Sigg water bottle and refill as needed. It is aluminum, doesn't make the water taste funny, and it saves the environment by reducing the number of plastic bottles in our landfills. Did I mention how cool they look? Check it out on www.mysigg.com. ...Shannon (6/23/07)
This probably works better if you don't have a house full. I try to remember to take my own grocery bag in to the store. But I sometimes forget, so I always ask for paper IN plastic. Then at home I separate them and use the paper for dry recyclable stuff and the plastic in the kitchen for the wet stuff. And I always keep a plastic bag in the freezer to put the garbage that won't go down the disposal. Then throw it away on garbage day, never have a bug problem in the house or the smell. I haven't bought a box of garbage bags in ages...any body got any tips on EASY COMPOSTING??? ...Amanda (6/21/07)
"If you live here in the desert like we do, you know how difficult it is to maintain color on the garden during the hottest months even if your pots and beds are irrigated. This summer I changed out all the dead, wilted, cool weather annual flowering plants with vegetables! Melons, heirloom tomatoes, peppers and herbs! The plants are textural and beautiful, they flower non-stop and they LOVE the hot desert sun. Best part of all...fresh homegrown ORGANIC produce that blows the pants off the factory farmed stuff in the grocery stores!"... Wayne K. (6/21/07)
For the garden...save money on those expensive, toxic cures for fungal and bacterial infections on your plants. In a blender full of water, maybe just half to start, add 6 or 7 cloves of peeled garlic. Pulverize it as fine as possible, strain and put into a spray bottle. And Voila!! A natural antibiotic you can spray on infected plants. Roses love garlic, so plant some between your roses, and they'll love you for it...Tom (6/20/07)
For your face...tired of spending a bundle on facial scrubs and tossing those containers into landfills??? Next time you make a pot of coffee or an espresso, save the grounds!! Once they are cool, put a few in your hands with some warm water and gently scrub on your face. I prefer to do it over the kitchen sink. Your family may think you look pretty silly, but let them face smooth and moisturized. And no the coffee will not stain your skin. Though I thought it would the first time I tried. And if you buy your coffee out...ask for some grounds to go...They'll get a chuckle and you are spreading the "Word"....and think of all that money you'll save!!!...Judith (6/20/07)
You can always buy bio-degradable dog
bags at Petco they are really wonderful and are odor neutralizing.

Now that the weather is
warming up, we turn down that thermostat, well maybe
this year, let's not turn it down so far, so fast,
allowing the body to
adjust to the warmer weather. It works for us in
yoga. I've always believed that going from extreme hot to extreme cold is the
culprit in many a summer cold. See your electric bill drop and maybe a few
stiff muscles disappear since the body is "NATURALLY" warmer. Now if we
could just get the malls to raise the temp a degree or two.
And don't forget
that fan!
